Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Aontroim Thuaidh, are celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge 2022 with a project, “Gaeilge Gach Lá, Irish Every Day”
The Culture and Irish Language Officers from North Antrim and Affiliated clubs have organised clubs and schools to produce short videos, about 1 minute in length, featuring U18 club members using the Irish Language. Each day North Antrim will post a short video of our daoine óga, young people.
Starting Tuesday 1st March, look out on social media every day of the festival and follow North Antrim GAA pages to get your giota beag Gaeilge, little bit of Gaeilge. Support the daily videos with lots of likes and shares and use the hashtag #GAAgaeilge where you can.
Jimmy Gaston, Culture Officer, North Antrim GAA, would like to thank all the Culture Officers and School Teachers who made the project happen. He would like to also thank Deirdre Goodlad, Oifigeach Forbartha Gaeilge, Aontroim Thuaidh (deirdregoodlad@gmail.com; 07935514343) the new Irish Language Development Officer for the area, for her encouragment, support and coordination work.
Seachtain na Gaeilge runs each year from the 1st to the 17th of March. This Irish language festival has grown and is celebrated in communities ar fud fad an domhain, all across the world.

Local Irish language groups working together in North Antrim on Seachtain na Gaeilge events, are acting as a springboard for more Irish language activities and are increasing awareness of, the now international festival of Irish Language.
Deirdre Goodlad and wants to get the message out to clubs and communities that she is here to help. ‘This is an exciting time for Irish language in GAA clubs. More and more people are taking up learning Irish through GAA programmes like ‘Foghlaim sa Chlub’, Learn in the Club and ‘Fondúireacht Sheosaimh MhicDhonncha’, Joe McDonagh Foundation. We’re also supported by Irish language organisations at a national level. ‘Is leor beirt’ – is one of the slogans used by Conradh na Gaeilge, the Gaelic League, to advertise ‘Ciorcal Comhrá, Conversation Circles. Is leor beirt, two people are enough, I think sums it up perfectly – it just takes two people in your club, interested in learning or speaking Irish to start hosting more Irish in your club. It’ll grow from there’.
To register for other Seachtain na Gaeilge events look for details on FaceBook and other Social Media sites of Glór na Maoile, CLG MacUílín, Gaeil Ruairí Óg agus Gaeil na nGlinntí, CCÉ Dhún Lathaí and Dunloy Cuchullains. All the events are free of charge and open to all.
