Danske Bank Foresters’ Cup quarter-final
St Killian’s Garron Tower 2-11 St Mary’s CBGS 1-11
St Killian’s Garron Tower will meet Cross & Passion Ballycastle in next week’s semi-final of the Foresters Cup when they beat St Mary’s CBGS in Thursday’s semi-final at Dunsilly.
Full forward Niall Maye got St Mary’s off to a great start with a goal in the opening seconds and when Conor McConville added a point things looked good for the Belfast school. However St Killian’s settled into a rhythm and boosted by a goal from half forward Alex McCambridge they clawed their way back and despite hitting eight wides they fought back to lead by 1-5 to 1-3 at half time.

In the second half St Mary’s kept in touch as Niall Maye picked off frees to close the gap. The north Antrim school kept their noses in front, even though their game lacked fluency. A goal from Michael Furey gave St Killians a bit of breathing space and they looked a bit more comfortable as they stretche their lead out to six points, their second goal coming from Michael Furey.
However their hurling became scrappy and disjointed and their scoring dried up. St Mary’s kept plugging away and a great score from midfielder Michael Marlow and two from frees by the excellent Niall Maye closed the gap to just three, but they couldn’t get the goal they needed to bring the game to extra time and St Killian’s held for the win
