Antrim Camogie League – Division 1
Dunloy 1-14 Cushendall 4-9
Goals from Orlaith McCurry after 14 minutes of the first half and 12 minutes of the second and further majors from Orlagh O’Hara and Dervla Cosgrove proved the important scores as Cushendall overcame the challenge of Dunloy at Pearse Park on Monday night.
The visitors led 1-8 to 1-4 at half time with Cassie McArthur pointing the home side ahead after 24 seconds and Cushendall equalising through Orlagh O’Hara with only two minutes on the clock.
Dunloy took the lead for the second time when Eimear Johnston split the posts in the third minute but the Ruairi Og’s came back strongly with points from Anna McNeill, Cara O’Boyle and two from Orlagh O’Hara before Orlagh McCurry struck with the game’s opening goal in the 14th minute.
Dunloy looked in trouble but they replied with a Caoimhe Molloy goal from a penalty and the same player pointed a free to put the home side right back into contention with 20 minutes gone.

Lara Haughey for the visitors and Caoimhe Molloy exchanged further points but it was Cushendall who finished the half on the front foot and Orlath McCurry and Orlagh O’Hara added points to leave the visitors four in front at the halfway stage.
The home side started the second half strongly and points from Emier McMullan, Katie Molloy and Caoimhe Molloy in reply to one from Orlagh McCurry saw them close the gap to two by the 11th minute and they seemed to be gaining a foothold.
A minute later that foothold had slipped as Orlath McCurry hammered home her and her side’s second goal. It brought about a good response from the Cuchullains however as they hit three unanswered points through Caoimhe Molloy, Sara McIlhatton and Molloy again to put matters back into the melting pot.
With just two between the sides with 12 minutes remaining it appeared that Dunloy were getting on top but the game took a decisive swing in favour of the visitors with the excellent O’Hara firing to the net and Dervla Cosgrove hitting a second to put 7 points between the sides.
The home side refused to throw in the towel however and replied with points from Caoimhe Molloy 0-2 and Emier McMullan going down the home straight but that was as good as it got with Cushendall emerging winners by four points and a couple of valuable points secured.
